The famous Student Visa or Student Visa! It is also part of the Australian dream and if you loved your stay in Australia, we understand that the idea of returning to live in France is difficult to accept. We also went there, don’t worry! 😉
So, we answer all the questions you ask about the Australian Student Visa: eligibility conditions, application, cost, procedures and other formalities! Let’s go!
1- Student Visa: how long does the application procedure take?
As soon as you give us your agreement to start the process, the application procedure can take between 48 hours (if urgent) and 1 month depending on the school. It is therefore not necessary to start the process 3 months before the end of your visa.
2- What are the eligibility conditions for the Student Visa in Australia?
To be eligible for the Australian Student Visa:
- You must first have been accepted in an Australian establishment, accredited by the state (CRICOS Accredited). The duration of the courses must be more than 3 months and you will receive a « Confirmation of Enrollment » (CoE) as proof of enrollment at the school.
If you are wondering what your study options are, this is it !
- You must have subscribed to the Australian Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
- You will also need to write a « Statement of Purpose » (or letter GTE). This is a document that explains why these studies in Australia are key to your project. This part is super important because you are directly addressing immigration Australian to explain your situation and especially why you chose to study in Australia.
No worries, we guide you and give you all the balls to write a GTE letter that immigration will not be able to refuse! 99% of student visas that we launch are accepted every year!
3- How much does the Student Visa cost in Australia?
The Australian student visa costs AUD 620.
Note that if you launch this one from Australia, and that you launched your previous visa from Australia also, you will have to pay a surcharge of AUD700 .
4- What is the age limit for launching a Student Visa?
Good news! Unlike the Working Holiday Visa which stops under 36 (for French nationals), the Student Visa does not impose an age limit!
5- Is it possible that my Student Visa is refused?
Yes, in some cases, Australian immigration may refuse to accept your application (if you have a criminal record for example, or if your GTE letter does not meet immigration expectations …) .
Do not hesitate to write to us or come to the agency to discuss and ask us your questions. It’s free! 🙂
6- What is the budget necessary to launch a Student Visa?
To launch your Student visa, you must take into account three types of fees:
- The costs of the first trimester of the school you have chosen including material costs and registration
- Insurance that will cover you for the entire duration of your student visa
- The cost of the student visa
7- Do I have to provide proof of funds when launching my student visa?
Generally not. In some cases, however, the Australian Immigration Service may ask you to provide more documents.
8- Cancel my Student Visa before the end: is it possible?
Life is full of surprises and you may want to return to your country or get another visa before the end of your Student Visa.
You can completely cancel if you decide. We can even help you recover the health insurance money over the period that you will not be using.
9- Will I be reimbursed if my student visa is refused?
Well no, Australian immigration does not reimburse the visa fees in case it is refused!
10- Do I have other options than the Student Visa to stay in Australia longer?
Yes of course! There are different types of visas other than the student visa. You can choose to extend your stay via other visas such as: the Visitor Visa, the Studying and Training Visa, the Partner Visa, Working and Skilled Visa… Everything depends of course on your eligibility for these different visas. You will find more information here.
