How to benefit from international student discounts? Let’s be honest, saving in Australia is not easy, especially if you are on a Student Visa!

However, your Student Visa gives you access to interesting discounts thanks to the student card. Your school or your University will provide it to you and it will help you save on numerous items in Australia. You just have to give your student identification number or USI number (Learn how to do it in 5 minutes on our StudyBirdTV channel).

On top of the discounts at the movies, you can benefit from plenty of other discounts! But we give you the 4 tips for students on a Student Visa!

THE BEST APPS AND WEBSITES FOR DISCOUNTS

You don’t know where to look for? Have a look at the specialised apps and websites that provide the current valid discounts.

GOOD DEAL: STUDENT EDGE

Student Edge gives you student discounts for Uber Eats, The Iconic, Fitness First or even Woolworths. Although the best deals are for electronics where you have up to 25% on Microsoft or Apple for example and even up to 40% on Lenovo.

GOOD DEAL: UNIDAYS

UniDays is your best friend! There you have student discounts on clothes (If your wardrobe starts to feel empty) or tones of other cool stuff such as Android, Apple, Uber, travelling packages or protein shakes (If you too you fell into the Australia lifestyle).

Also, lots of shops give additional discounts if you are a UniDays member, so we definitely recommend you to subscribe!

GOOD DEAL: THE ISIC CARD

You can also get an ISIC card. This card will give you access to many offers for instance 20% discount on thousands of restaurants, 40% on flights and other discounts on daily consumables (Fuel, groceries, alcohol!).

GOOD DEAL: GROUPON

Finally, Groupon is a must if you want to benefit from tones of student discounts on activities like massage, restaurants, bars, boat trips and so on.

THE BEST OFFERS FOR TECH

And yes, we are talking about discounts on Apple Store, JB Hi-Fi or even Microsoft.

GOOD DEAL: APPLE

Although good offers are not displayed on their official website, you can find them on Google. For example, you can look for “Student discounts Apple Store Australia”. Those discounts can be amazing if you need a new MacBook, iPad or if you are an Apple Music user.

You will also find websites with discounts on Apple products like UniDays (See above).

GOOD DEAL: MICROSOFT

If you prefer Microsoft to Apple, you can also get up to 10% discount if you search for “Student Discounts Microsoft Australia”. For example, all students can have Office 365 for free or at low cost.

GOOD DEAL: JB HI-FI

JB Hi-Fi is already pretty affordable therefore you will have to dig deeper to find discounts. Good to know, if you find the same product but cheaper at another store, you can ask them to compensate you for the difference.

Websites like Student Edge (See above) will keep you updated on potential discounts at JB Hi-Fi.

THE BEST SHOPPING DEALS

In Australia, we love second hand and vintage shops (Mostly located in Newtown or Surry Hills for Sydney and Fitzroy for Melbourne). But if it is not your thing and you would rather shop online, there are plenty of good deals for students.

GOOD DEAL: THE ICONIC

The best part? The Iconic regularly offers discounts for students on current collection. It is time for you to start having a look at their website to catch the best deals.

GOOD DEAL: ASOS

Very similar, ASOS gives you a 10% discount and you get your clothes delivered in a few days. Top!

GOOD DEAL: OTHERS
  • Misguided constantly offers discounts up to 40% and 50%.
  • The app Studentbeans also gives students a 50% on their order. Don’t wait!
  • For your shopping we also recommend you to pay a visit to PrettyLittleThing that offers 30% discount and Nasty Gal with discounts up to 55% for students.

Finally, you can also benefit from discounts in shops like Glue store, Topshop, Adidas, or even Nike depending on the seasons. To make sure you don’t miss anything don’t forget to ask nicely at the cahier!
